Well, It happened...Put er' down yesterday.
18 year old girl coming towards me decided to turn left in intersection right in front of me. Happened so fast, all I remember was skidding and the bike going down on the right side. I'm ok. could have been alot worse. My bike isn't too bad, pegs, turn signals, mirror etc. The worst is the tank. I've never had to deal with insurance companies for my bike before. Her company (Nationwide) has been good so far. She admitted fault to the cop who wrote the report. Here's my question: has anyone here had an accident like this and did the ins. co. treat you good or try to jerk you around? My main concern is getting my bike back as good as it was before and in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks in advance for all your input.

the biggest problem you may have with the ins. co is that they can allege that because there was no contact between the vehicles, the accident is your fault, and your ins. co is responsible. as long as you have eye witnesses or a police report showing her at fault, you should have no problems. go through her ins. co directly, do not put the claim through yours. as far as them paying for all of the expenses, you shouldn't have any issues as long as they acknowledge fault.
been there a couple of times w/ car and bike, and it's not fun to argue with them...

Good to hear you came out of it okay, I had to hire a lawyer and two years of fighting with the insurance. The driver turned left in front of me, admitted in court and was arrested that night on a warrant for fail to purchase. Still his insurance said they would take my medical bills into consideration. Two years later they finally paid my medical and replaced my bike. Good luck with the insurance, if they act hinky at all hire a lawyer.

Max, good to hear you walked away. Scoot is metal and paint, they make more of that.
Read No Regrets post, the reason Momma and I discontinued being ins. agents. Tired of hearing about ppl getting jacked 'round by ins. co. [:@][:@][:@]
Hope they do right by you. If it starts to even smell funny, call an attorney or the state ins. commish. (Provided the ins. cos. haven't gotten to him/her, yet.) [:'(][:'(][:'(]

Glad you are telling this to us all first. The bike can and I'm sure will be fixed. If the gal admitted fault to police and it is in the report, I would really think you will be fine.
