The boss can't ride..
I bought a really nice 94 FXR in Feb. Love it. Every one at work has had comments to make, mid-life crises, shoulda bought metric, ect. Last week the VP of the company was sitting on it and scooting around the parking lot on his feet. Huge grin on his face. He said he'd like to ride it someday. I asked if he had ridden in the past. He said that he had. Last friday, I went to move the FXR into the warehouse, a violent thunderstorm was coming. He was walking from the ware house towards the front building. I asked do you want to ride it into the warehouse? His face lit up and said sure..... I fired it up, got it off the choke, told him about 1down 4 up...he said I know I know...He wound the trottle up a third of the way dumped the clutch and it was off to the races! He missed a dumpster by 6 inches and plowed into a parked Dodge caravan. Flattened the tire on the caravan, crushed the fender, banged the door up, and bent the inner and outer tie rod ends. The FXR has a crushed exhuast, (he's replacing) and the forward controls on the right side got ripped out of the frame, (he's also replacing and repairing the mount). I guess I just learned a lesson about letting people ride my Harley...

He's fine too. Bruised body and shattered ego though......

 \\;1st rule about owning a bike.........NEVER let anyone else ride your bike. Way too may things can happen and it always causes problems when something does happen. Just my .02

It was kind but expensive gesture - hope he learns from it as I guess you have!

RE: The boss can't ride..
I watched a guy do something similar at the Bourget dealership in Mesa AZ. \\; We stopped over (it was across the street from the Army surplus store, and we were killing time), and this RUB wannabe was checking out one the bikes that had the doubleshot of NOS (two NOS tanks on each side of the gas tank). \\; He swore to the salesman that he had ridden for years, and so was about to a test ride around their lot (they had a big open parking type lot next door), hit the throttle, dumped the clutch and took off on one wheel! \\; Luckily he wasn't hurt, but of course the bike went down. \\;

So you actually believed that he could ride just because he said so and was scooting around the parking lot with your bike. \\;I would have never let him do that in the first place. \\;That was a very dumb mistake just to get a few brownie points \\;with the boss.
