I had a Yamaha roadstar 1700 that I drilled 5 holes in the baffles. It sounded real good and ran fine.......I just bought my new ultra classic and I'M not real sure what it would do for a Harley........I would almost bet that it would be ok....

Just ram a broom handle down each pipe to push down the "inner lip". No need to be cuttin' holes but if it starts popping on decel, don't blame me! Did it to my old Dyna and was fine.

Which direction did you go with the broom handle?

I drilled the holes in my baffles on the screaming eagles on my wide glide out three times. I would pull the baffle&nbsp\\; and drill the holes bigger&nbsp\\; and then try them out. Took enlarging the holes three times to get a rumble I liked. The baffles in my Screaming eagles are stainless and a broom would not have opened them up. It would have got stuck or broke off.

Probably have a plug about half way in. do this w/the pipes on the bike. Get a metal cutting hole saw the same diameter as the ID of the baffle in the muffler. also probably need a drill bit extension. Put it together on a good drill w/a little grease on the cutting teeth. run it up inside the muffler till you hit the plug and start drilling. The bit will drill a pilot hole through the plug and the saw part will cut the plug out. Used the same procedure on the factory mufflers on my 94 FXDL, and my 08 FXDF. Worked fine both times, no problems.

I've done that waiting for pipes to come in. Every time it took a 2 inch hole saw, but can't say about yours.

Forget drillin or tapping out baffles.&nbsp\\; Take a hacksaw and file to those mufflers and they'll sound great.&nbsp\\; Here's how mine looked, sorry no audio but they sounded great.

I used a 2 inch hole saw on my stock pipes and cut the entire baffle out. They actually sound decent and with a set of Xides it runs great.
