Default Want to buy my son a bike

My 21 year old son works for me in my construction business.&nbsp\\; If our projects go well next year I plan to surprise him with a new bike.&nbsp\\; He is a hard working responsible young fellow.&nbsp\\; I've noticed him looking at the Night Train as well as the Fat Bob.&nbsp\\; Any suggestions?&nbsp\\; He has had some experience with bikes. He rides my Ultra some and his mom's sporty.&nbsp\\;He took the MSF class with me 2 years ago. &nbsp\\;HE is 6'2" 230 he makes her sporty look pretty small. It is an 883L.&nbsp\\; Any suggestions on which bike?&nbsp\\; I hoped to surprise him with it but may let him pick it out.

I agree that a Sporty might be a bit small for him, but I'd definitely let him decide which bike to get.&nbsp\\; Set a dollar limit for what you're willing to spend, then let him pick a bike that fits the budget.&nbsp\\; I sure wouldn't want someone else to decide for me, even if they were footing the bill.&nbsp\\; Telling him that you're going to buy him a bike should be surprise enough.

Or arrange it ahead of time with the dealer. Buy ahead of time whatever fits the money you are willing to spend and have the salesdude keep it on the showroom floor, then bring him to the dealer, surprise him, then let him decide to keep the bike you selected or apply that money to something else. I did this for my wife's birthday. I picked out a bike, set up the paperwork with the dealer in advance, brought her there on the pretense of trying on jackets. She saw Happy Birthday on the price tag of the bike I picked out. She was sure surprised. We encouraged her to sit on others, to be sure of the right one, but paperwork was not finalized until she was. Dealer was real cool about it.

if your willing to spend that kind of money i would get him what ever he likes best. Maybe have him try a 1200 custom with forward controls that seams to fit bigger peopel a bit better

Let him pick it out.&nbsp\\; I wouldn't want anyone else to pick out my bike.&nbsp\\; It's fantastic that you want to get it for him, but it should be his choice of bike IMHO.
