Mine was thrown in the deal along with 2 tee shirts and a backrest. When I bought my 06 Ultra I had them throw in a second headset. My 30,000 service with rear tire on my 06 was 851.00. Sold it with 42,000 did all other services myself

Just had mine done at the stealer since all the other work previous has been validated at the stealer, just to keep the resale value at its maximum. Wonder if that even true..
Anyhow, Im very pleased and I notice an improvement in performance and handling.
Yeah the 10k service is really goin to have you considering what you got yourself into Wrench it yourself if you can..simple fluid changes at least, if you dont mind avoiding the hype about resale.

Get yourself the service manual and some tools, especially a torque wrench. Doing your own work on your bike is going to save you big bucks over the life of the bike.

I had my 1k service done on thrusday. Changed all fluids myself the night before. Dealer charged $75.00 and hour and they told me it would take just little over 2hrs. I told them all fluids had been changed already. Dealer took an hour off the service, replaced 2 primary screws, and total cost was $125.00. Service was great.

I have not heard any difference in prices weather the services were done by a dealer, indy or owner.
I think the condition of the bike speaks for it's self in many cases.
However, i do my own services and have all the reciepts including warranty work that has been to my bike if a buyer asks.

I paid $330.00 for my 1K service on my '06 RK here in Phoenix and brought my own Redline Shockproof Heavy for the Tranny. I know they didn't grease the steering head bearings like they should have because when I decided to do my own 5K service it took almost 3/4 of a tube of grease to fill the neck so I wonder what else they didn't do that they were supposed to. I had the service and parts manual for my '06 and I wanted it done right so I did the 5K myself and spent a whole lot less then the $345.00 that the dealers want around here. I will do all of them from now on, that way I know everything is done right and everything on the checklist is done. I don't trust them to do everything they are supposed to do although I'm sure some dealers do perform all the required maintenance steps.
