Default Security System pager

Just bought a new Wide Glide and the dealer installed the security system with the smart siren. Apparently I can add the personal pager for only $60. Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it worth $60. What kind of range does it have in the real world if a body is indoors?

Thanks

I have the pager for my fatboy...works great as long as you are within about a hundred yards. Works well in most hotel rooms and restuarants. I stayed at the grand casino in gulfport about a month before Katrina floated it across the highway. My pager woke me up at 4:30 in the morning. Hit the floor running, sure enough some kids had been fooling with my bike. A security guard had already hemmed them up and given them hell about touching a Harley that wasn't thier own. I am not sure whether the new pager has better range or not, but on the model I have it will let you know if you are out of range.

Well that depends on if its the smart siren or the smart siren 2. The original smart siren would need the pager kit at about $195 and has the range of a baby throwing a brick. Whereas the smart siren 2 only needs a $69 pager kit the range is better but don't expect to park your bike at bike week and go to the other end of the strip and still get signal.

I installed the TSSM, Smart Siren II, and the pager as a complete setup. Personally I like having the pager if for nothing more than a little peace of mind. Generally I use the pager when going out to dinner or shopping and stay in the basic range of the bike. As far as I understand the alarm system will reset itself after "sounding off" for 30 seconds. So if no one comes running the thief would know that potentially he could get what he wants.....set it off, see what happens and go from there. With the pager I can make sure the thief will not experience a "no show" situation 'cause I'll be there to "welcome" him (or her) letting them know the alarm is more than just a bunch of noise.

Range isn't bad. I have it on my 05FXD and measured it out to about a block or so from my garage once but thats all wide open. If you're in a restaurant, you'll get it. It has a range confirmation signal on it so you'll know when its in/out of range. Definitely worth the investment. Good luck.

TSSM stands for turn signal security module, the security system itself (the HD version) replaces the turn signal module and acts as an engine immobiliser. The add on siren (get the II), I got screwed and paid $125 for the I, AND had to install it myself (so much for 'factory installed' oh and no refund for the non-existant labor, but I digress...) The II comes complete with an antenna, whereas the I doesn't, but they look almost identical.
Anyway the siren is what makes the noise, otherwise, you'll just get your turn signals flashing and an immobilised bike. It took all of 10 mins for a complete novice to install the siren. The pager, comes separate. The price for I or II is like $90, the TSSM is around $280, the pager as others have said is either $195, or $69 depending on your siren module. Take yoursef the Harley Website These are for a sporty (my ride), but you can navigate to your own model - and its listed under >security >alarms.

I have one on my 05 RK. The pager has good range. Works inside restaurants, hotels and line of sight about 1/2 mile with no visible obstructions.

Be advised the battery in the unit only lasts about 45-50 days. Carry a spare. I am headed to Laughlin for the River Run and will put in a fresh battery when I park the bike the first time.

They take a 2450 disc battery, buy them at Wal-Mart.
