Default Springer classic advice

Hey guys, finally sold my 97 road king police this past sunday and I'm planning on picking up this 2006 springer classic. 1k miles all skull covers and grips and pegs, black gimp apes, totally chromed out switches/ levers, forward controls, vance and hines big radius pipes, badlander seat. What do you guys think? Any major cons with the springer suspension? Thanks (sorry about the crappy pic)

not sure about cons but i can tell you i love my 98 springer and wouldnt sell or trade it for anything. maybe its just me but it rides better than a 06 night train i use to have.

i guess the only con i know of is the amount of time it takes to clean all the chrome on the front end. there is some tight places that are a blast to get too.

now i've not had mine in any kiss ur azz type twisties but a buddy of mine who owns a 96bad boy says that the springer suspension in those type turns can wear you out. although he is a agressive rider anyhow (point a to point b as quick as possible).

just take your time with the bike until you get a feel for it as the springer suspension does have a different feel than regular forks.
i think you will fall in love it with it though after you have rode it awhile.
sharp looking bike aswell!!

I LOVE those springer classics. Go for it. It might be a touch weak in the twisties compared to a Dyna, but not bad in my experience. Unless you are completely crazy in the mountains like I am, you'll do fine.

Sharp corners, often found in hilly or mountain terrain. Watch these twisties.

The bike in front is an EVO Dyna Wide Glide. It gains about 1/2 mile in elevation in addition to the corners:

I thought my 2000 Springer handled much better than any Glide front end. They handle better than you'd think. Of course I've never ridden crotch rockets so don't ask me how it compares to them but for a Big Twin H-D, the Springer is right in there in handling, if not better. YMMV

I had an '05 Softail Springer Classic. Without question, the finest machine I've ever owned. The Springer front end was perfect in every sense. I took it everywhere, including twisites and it performed flawlessly. The only reason I sold it was because the OL didn't seem to like riding it and wanted some extra comfort. Everywhere I went on the Springer, it NEVER failed to garner attention from the biking crowds and even those that wish they were.

I'm not too sold on the apes, but it looks like a great bike. I wish I could afford two bikes, then I'd have another one just for me to ride around on.
