Issue: What is the fastest stock Harley and how does it compare to the speed of a sport bike?
Some users feel that the V-rod is faster than a 600cc sports bike, while others think the sports bike are faster. Users will break down the differences in the engine and give their opinion of which bikes are fast and why.

I dunno, maybe the guy riding the kaw 636 did not know how to ride it, but my stock FXDSE left him like the was chained down. Since I have had my work done I went up against a CBR 1000, he left me on the start, but not once I got the engine RPM upto speed.....
But if you want fast, you are definetly in the WRONG place!!!!![Confused](https://www.hdforums.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif)

rice burners, not counting the harley copies or wannabes are lighter and built for peak performance from the factory, if harleys were built this way, hold on if you can, but then they also would be throw aways. harleys are built for touring and dependability, and they will pull a house, a rice burner wont pull a car, although my fxdse is pretty quick, almost the best of both worlds, a good compromise anyway.

Check this video. 2006 Yamaha R6.
This is the bike my son owns.
No production Harley could ever do this. There is no comparison.
Harley is a lifestyle ..... which I love.

I was cruising at a little over 100mph on my Heritage and my son just flat out walked away from me!
The saving grace is that he wants a V-Rod as soon as he graduates from school next year.

I love my Harley but my R6 and my ZRX will feed it it's lunch no problem. You would have to drop some serious cash into the Harley to get it to put out what my ZRX does stock. It's not really fair to compare it to my R6 since that is a purpose built race bike and is not street legal. For comaprison's sake my last race bike (before the R6) was a CBR1000. It put out 172 to the rear tire and the torque curve was nice and linear. Total money into that bike, including purchase price, was right around 15k.

It's off, but not by that much. Maybe 10% VA state police came out one day while we were at Virginia International Raceway and took radar speeds for fun at the end of the front straight. Indicated 160 on my R6 was around 150 on the radar gun. And my gearing for that track is up two teeth in the rear.

The speedo is probably off (like most are), but that particular model has been tested to over 160mph in magazines.

I have a 2004 FZ6 which has been gear to the same 15/48 final as the R6 and it did need a speedo-heeler. I've had the bike to 147mph and there isn't much left at that point but it gets there pretty quick. The R6 has a better profile, pulls about 1,500 more RPM and roughly 13 more RWHP. I have no doubt the bike will pull a true 160mph.

The stock FXDSE pulls 89rwhp and 105 ft lbs of torque. With a pro rider up, the bike has posted a time of 12.31, which is roughly 2.5 seconds slower that the current liter bikes that will pull 9.75. You can pretty much double that 89hp and it still won't have a chance of making that 9.75.....
