I don't think you did yourself any favors at all.

Opening up the mufflers could tend to further "lean out" an already lean engine. HD designs those engines with specific specs. I've seen people put larger diameter muffs/baffles on bikes without changing the intake and ECM settings, only to see them run hotter and leaner than before.

I'd suggest you get a fuel management system (PCIII, SEST, etc.) asap or risk damage.

Everyone has an opine on this subject... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

The other option is to check E-Bay for another set of mufflers. Stock mufflers can usually be had for next to nothing. Then save for a good set of slip on mufflers.

How? I see it as only an annoying noise with a slightly leaner engine. I don't see the doom and gloom.

I did exactly the same thing on my old FXDX and had the same result. It sounded like a tin can and I noted a marked decline in performance. Only left it that way long enough to put the cash together for legit aftermarket exhaust. No permanent damage but damn, it sounded ugly for a while.

A replacement set of stock mufflers should be no problem on ebay for $20 or less.

You might check ebay. Usually you can pick up stock mufflers for next to nothing. bdavis is right on and you might do some damage with the free flow exhaust and no re-map, a plug check is a good idea.

You just voided your warranty! LoL Folks been running drag pipes in Hogs for years and years. Yours is no different with the baffles pulled.

Baffles are put into pipes for a REASON, to create a back pressure, thus HELLPING THE ENGINE TO PERFORM AT IT'S PEAK ABILITY. By REMOVING them, you are DEFEATING THE VERY REASON FOR WHICH THEY WERE DESIGNED!!! So what? now you got a bunch of noise that doesnt perform and just IRRITATES EVERYONE.

All this doom and gloom is a bunch of BS.

It will not lean out enough to cause damage. If you are concerned, check the plugs. If you have a fuel injected bike, the ECM will compensate for this minor change.

Yeah, you drilled out the baffles, but you still have some back pressure. Not as much as you did before, but you are not as free flowing as a set of drag pipes.

You may loose some low end. On my carburated Low Rider the best combo outside of a two to one seemed to be drag pipes and anti reversion cones.

I did the exact same mod on my Low Rider years ago. Last year I did it on my Fat Bob. In neither instance was I pleased w/the sound. You likely won't be either. Save your pennies for a decent set of pipes. Don't drink the kool aid and get Rushes.
