I have noticed a slight aversion to organized HOG anything amongst the group of people I ride with. I used them for the fly n ride and savings paid for membership for quite a few years. That being said I cant stand going on HOG rides. Going to do a poll here on peoples opinions of their local HOG.

I have a couple friends that occasionaly ride with the local HOG chapter and they don't have a problem with them. My work schedule conflicts with the HOG togethers so I've never rode with them or considered joining as a member.

I'm not into large group riding, nor do I like being told how fast and in which direction to ride. I only joined the National Group because membership came free with the bike. I've continued to pay the dues for the road service only.

That would be choice 4 for my local but have heard other groups north of me are pretty good.

I usually make the monthly meetings and about a third of the rides available. Our group is well organized and a lot of fun and these guys ride. Just a lunch ride might be a hundred miles away and there are lots of road captains so there are often two or three rides a week available. They have road trips every couple of month like to the Tail of the Dragon,Daytona,Memphis,Barber Museum in Birmingham,Thunder Beach, etc. All ages and of course different levels of riding skills but we all blend well.

Good Luck

Tom

Around here, HOG is best described as AARP Angels...they're big on formalities, time schedules and being in control of every little thing on a ride...they play BINGO at their meetings and rallys...I don't have a fckn THING in common with those people...

I am conveniently located between two local chapters and belong to both. The folks in both are fine but I prefer one over the other. I attend the monthly meetings of the one and about as many of their rides as I can.

Both groups seem organized and a lot of fun. The one just seems to work for me better than the other. These folks are not afraid to ride. They have road trips attending Rolling Thunder, Daytona and Thunder Beach.

Like anything I guess every group has a different personality and you have to find what works for you personally.

The local HOG is pretty loose & so are the meetings & rides. I hit about 3 or 4 meetings a year & maybe the same number of rides. Nice bunch of guys.
