Black Denim finish... does it mar/scuff easily?
I'm looking at buying a black denim FLTRX which I love the looks of. But it seems to me that this paint finish might be prone to scuffing very easily. Is this so? And if you get a scuff, is there anything that can be done or put on the finish to remove/reduce the scuff fairly easily?
This color is the only one I like on this bike, so it's looking like I'm going to be having it... I'm just a bit unsure about how the denim will hold up to minor scuffs/mars.
Thanks, in advance for your help on this.

It holds up well and shouldn't be a concern.
I've found it actually hides damage that when first occurred seemed bad, but over time somehow "faded."
Scratched my fender putting my seat screw back in. Looked HORRIBLE when it happened. I can hardley see it now.
I saw a black denim RG Custom over the weekend and it's an awesome bike.

had my black denim train for three years. not a problem with it. put some pig spit on it and it'll take care of that faded look. but to answer the question a little more, you will not be able to "buff" out a scratch like you would be able to with a minor scratch on something clear coated. i've got one very small scratch over the course of three years and that was from my flight suit zipper hitting the tank. unless you plan on going off roading or letting kids jump all over your bike, i don't think you should worry.

My opinion is it scratches easier than a gloss finish. I ride a lot and am probably not as careful as I should be strapping stuff on the bike etc and I have some scratches and rubs that I cannot get rid of. I bought the bike to ride and I really don't care about the scratches, if you are **** about it and ride a lot than I would suggest you go with another finish unless you are really careful. Just my opinion, obviously others disagree.

that may be true, and if it is, it's not a gloss clear. i've been told it's powder coat and not paint. i wonder who would know fer sure? i would love to find out and get me some of whatever it is. i've had some stuff powder coated, but it doesn't quite match the stock stuff.

Flat clear over an egg shell black. Tuff as any clear. Hard to match. My PCed stuff it thick as all get out - amazingly thick and strong. So much so that between the blasting and the PC the center section and the holes are almost smooth.

+1 in fact if it gets rubbed it'll turn glossy on you.. the dealer F'd up when they put my two up seat on . the seat rubbed on the fender . shined it right up in two places. You can only see it when i run the solo seat... it's getting repainted though, it got hail damage this year so repaint .

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to go with it. Tomorrow I'll take delivery of a 2010 Black Denim Road Glide Custom FrickenLoveToRideX. So exciting. My sales guy told me it was a flat clear coat over standard black paint... confirms what others have been told... so that's likely what it is. Definitely a finish that one should be careful around, but apparently it's pretty tough too.
