Default "What I don't know about - **WIDKA." #2

Over the years some things change or become "The Thing", so my questions on this subject:

1. What is the proper protocol when overtaking a group ride when passing would be appreciated?

2. Is it different when overtaking an organized club?

3. During, or after, a successful pass is there a particular signal (hand/electrical, etc.) to give?

1) Downshift & twist throttle.

2) No.

3) You have to slap the back of your helmet 3 times with your left hand while sticking your right leg out 3 times in timing with your hand.

If the group has a sweeper that has radio contact with lead, at first stop sign or traffic light, ask the sweeper. Passing a group depends on the number of riders and opposing traffic, maybe turn on hi beams and the lead might see your intentions, maybe wait for a passing lane or multiple lanes. If you complete this why not just a wave after the pass is completed? This is a case by case situation and mostly your call.

On the freeway - just get in a passing lane and blow by them. As a rider who usually rides alone or with a couple of good freinds I'm really not crazy about large groups. Furthermore I think they create hazards both to themselves and other drivers and riders.

But no. 3, I had Bassackereds. Though it slap the helmet with right hand and stick out left leg. no wonder I didn't get any low left hand waves back...

That doesn't cancel my warranty, does it.????

Pass them as if the group was one big truck.
Unfortunately on a busy road it can be like being at the back of a line of cars. Nothing you can do but hang back and follow them.
