Default Laconia?

I have been thinking about planning a trip to Laconia this June. I do a beach camping trip with my son right around then so could just make it 2 weeks 1 at the beach w/ 7 years 1 in Laconia. I always have to plan my beach trip in early January to get the camping spot at the beach I want so might as well plan them both.

I wanted to get people's advice on places to stay, what the rally is like ect? Even pics you have laying around from past years events.

I love NH but have spent more time in the White Mountains than anywhere else.
Since I am in the Maryland it is way more realistic to ride to NH than Sturgis.
So do you go? If so what days? Where do you stay? I am a camper so campground suggestions welcome.. How far away from the rally is too far?

I live close by so I never stay up there. Try googling "Laconia campgrounds" and I'm sure you'll find plenty. Keep in mind you'll need rain gear because it always rains during bike week in Laconia. Good luck!

When I lived in RI, I went every year, but I would ride up in the early morning and ride back home later that night. I only stayed overnight one time and that was at a camp ground site with an M/C. Good times

I too live close by, so I've done day trips. This year I stayed with some friends for the first time and had a great time, met some great people. I usually do mid-week so I don't have to sit in traffic all day. The ONE nice day this year we did a great day-long ride, it's a good jumping off spot for a longer ride.

I think there's something for everyone, depending on what you like to do (places to party, to booze, to shop, to ride). There's are numerous campgrounds in the middle of it all, but I've never stayed at one, so I can't comment on what it's like.

And yes, June in NH has had craptacular weather the last few years, that you can count on.

im booking a tent spot at pine hollows campground, first week of january, apparently its a great place to stay and the rates seem reasonable. if your floating around there and you see a jolly roger and and an upside down canadian flag hanging of a tent next to a old sportster poke your head in and say hi. it'll be my first actual road trip on the bike and my first tiem at a big rally. we got wharf rat rally here locally but it aint much and i was only there for liek 2 hours before i had to head back home.
its actully more economical for me to stay a full week then it is for me to ride there for a couple for days and ride back LOL

Did Laconia this past June (09). It rained a lot on the way there (see my avatar) and a lot when we got there. They re-named it Rain-conia! It was still great fun. The weather eventually cleared and we did the white mountain run. Lots of twisties-Kanamankis (?) trail was a blast. Going back this year. Stayed in motel, good rate. Just sayin...

There's alot to see including the neighboring states such as Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont...Nothing like Sturgis, but you'd want to go up Mount Washington and enjoy the view. Hell Yea, 4 out of 5 times I've been up there as I'd agree with others saying about the fuggin' rain. I tend to get real pissy when it rains due to arthritis in my knees as they hurt so bad. Can't comment on the campground part cuz I'm an hotel w/pool guy, LOL.

Just go and enjoy,

Thorey

FWIW, you'll enjoy Laconia with your son. Actually, there are almost more families with kids, dogs, trailers, RMVs, then there are bikers.
My helmet sticker says "if bike wek was meant to be a family event, bikes would have 4 doors."
Just sayin. Been there last year. It's not for me.

Last year I rode into Laconia alone & pitched my tent in Pine Hollow Campground. I got mixed up with a lot of good people there, including the Pine Hollow staff. It did rain, but the campground is across the highway from the Broken Spoke Saloon, and next door to the Looney Bin. After a few days the weather cleared & I rode up the coast of Maine to Bar Harbor & back home on the Kancamagus Highway. It is a good memory.
