Kid will come I will drop him off with his dad(aka the ex). Trip to beach with 7 year old will be in my cage aka the worlds smallest hatch. That is car camping and I take everything to delaware beach.
After I drop him off I will pack bike with small tent, bag, pad and then go to NH alone on my bike..
Maybe I will find a crew to go with but I am fine with going alone.. I have always loved the NH roads but have never done them on my own bike.
Pine hallow. Is it easy to get a spot still or do they not open up until January?
When I called Pine Hollow for a bike week reservation, they said they were not taking reservations, but since I planned to be there the 1st Saturday, they were confident they could fit me in. Well I took the chance & yes, they can always fit in another tent.
When I checked in, they assigned me to a site across from the office that was already occupied by a couple of tents. They said that it was for singles & we would get to know each other. I expected they were just being cheap &/or wanted to keep an eye on rogue bikers, but I’m cheap too & wasn't planning on causing much trouble anyway.
It turned out to be the best possible location. Loners came in & out from all over the country to ride & party together. It was near the (new) showers & they set up temporary shelters adjacent to the office to create an impromptu café. It did rain, but nobody was stuck in a tent.
I forget the address, but it is very easy to find & a short run to Weirs Beach.
I notice from your 1st post that you’ll be riding out of Maryland. That is some nice motorcycle country. Is it the Cumberland gap I took from West Virginia toward Harrisburg? I got confused around there, found myself on dirt roads & had a map opened across the baggage when a guy on a beat up Suzuki stopped to see if everything was alright. He lived right down in the “holler” & indicated the best 20 miles of curves out of there.
Damn, I just put the bike away & I’m anxious to putt again!
In 2006, I stayed at an RV park in Bridgewater NH. There are some other campgrounds around the area (Newfound Lake) which is about 15 miles west of Laconia (Weirs Beach to be exact). It was an easy 20 minute ride to all the action with no traffic to or from the campground. I usually stay on the outskirts for some peace and quiet.
I lived in N.H. the first 57yrs of my life, and like most are saying, it rains a LOT that time of year for some reason.
I would save your $ to come to Daytona Bike Week in March.
I use to go to Laconia every year I was home from sea. I would stay at Lake Winnipesaukee hotel. Great place. I second that motion about riding up Mount Washington. Quite the trip indeed. I'm puting in a picture from one of my climbs up the mountain.. friggin foggy as shiat the last 1/2 mile up.. oh and going down was even more of a rush.!! Good luck lizdc it will be fun no matter where you stay.
Liz I went to Laconia in 2007. It was awesome. I stayed at this location which was great and not too far from Weirs Beach. http://www.kingbirchmotorlodge.com/
