Has anyone ever done any mods to their chrome like using scotch brite to give it a brushed aluminum look or anything like that. Suggestions and ideas are welcome. I have a extra set of slip ons for my bike I would like to experiment with and wondered what anyone else has done.

If you want the "extra set of slipons" to soon look like a "rusty old set of slipons", go ahead and scrape them up. My experience is that once chrome gets scratched up, it starts looking pretty $hitty in a short time. If you want to scuff them up and then powdercoat them, well - maybe that would work???

 

I bought some used chrome heat shields off ebay for my 06 FXSTI to drill holes in them and paint up, I used some 400 grit wet sandpaper to scuff them up, and I thought they looked really good. It looked good enough that I had to sleep on it before I eventually painted them with flat black berbeque paint.
