Question Big Bore and Super Tune...is it worth it?

Local dealer running a special this month on Big Bore (96" to 103") with cams and Super Tune on dyno. Are you happy with yours? Is $2k a good 'sale' price? What say ye?

I have the big bore 95 kit with 211 cams and I love it. Helluva difference.

I'm pricing mine out in Minot ND next week.

I don't know first hand...I did have a dealer tell me that there isn't a noticable difference between the 96 cubic inches and the 103...Like I said...thats what I was told. If I'm wrong let me know...I may look into it.

If your seriously thinking about getting the 103", get your heads done at the same time. It will make a huge difference!

Yes, it does make a big difference over the 96 and $2K is a good price for the dealer to do the job. I have just the SE 255's installed and that makes a big difference. My torque increased to 95-97 ft/lbs. I'm guessing you should get another 5-8 ft/lbs with the 103 kit assuming you already have a Stage I and tuner. If you don't have the Stage I, you're probably wasting your money.

My dealer was running a special for $1650. That did not include fluids, compression releases or a tune. I'd check to see what your dealer is including. You'll need compression releases if you do the SE 255 cams or headwork that gets the compression up. I'd check on the "Super Tune". Get some references for people that have had their bike tuned this way. A good tune normally runs $3-500.

From the dyno's I've seen U should end up around 103#'s Tq and 85 Hp, give or take a couple on each with that set up, thats without doing the head...
Last yr our dealer was doing the same for $1875. so $125 more this yr is still a good price.

It all depends on your need for speed. For me no! Discovered a long time ago,to see and feel a big difference in the seat of your pants is go up in cubic inches at least 20 at a time.Yes you can make these small motors strong, but they have a limit before they start getting choppy in town.Good Luck, remember we all have our own needs, and experience is the best teacher!

What I'm mainly looking for is increase in torque to more easily motor up 10-11k ft. mountain passes in Colorado loaded down with me, the wife and a weeks worth of gear.
