Get yourself a cable lube clamp. They are fairley cheap. I paid $8 for mine.

I use a lube with teflon in it.

You should get yourself a service manual as well. I believe you have to take apart the switch housing to do the throttle cables, or at least thats the way it looks in my service manual. I haven't done it yet, but I am planning it the next service.

to wlbowers, did you have to remove the cables from the switch housing? one article said that you can loosen the adjusters all the way, and spray it down the cable. does this sound right to you..

I take mine apart. I want to clean the grooves in the grip when I lube it. I also put a little graphite in the friction groove

Careful you don't loose the ends off the cables.

Should be done every 5000.
Get Dri Slide.
Take the switch housing apart AFTER YOU BUY A SHOP MANUAL. Squirt some into the cables there and graphite the rest.
Sorry.........didi meant to talk so loud.
Buy the shop manual if you are going to do ANY wrenching.
