Do you use wrong oil?
I am not asking about manufacturer, only weight. It seems like 95% use 20W50 oil when manual says to use streight 60.
Are you using recommended weight?
I just begun using right weight.
From 2000 FLT manufacturers manual:
10W40 below 40F
20W50 above 40F
50 above 60F
60 above 80F
Are you using recommended weight?

i use 20w50, mainly because m climate doesnt call for the heavy weight, and HD is the only place to get 60w and i aint spending $34.99 a quart X3 every 1000miles on oil when i can go to wal-mart n get the castrol motorcycle oil for $4 a quart

Just checked both of my manuals, SAE 60 is recommended for conditions when the LOWEST ambient temperature is above 80* F (27* C). If the temp drops down to mid forties or fifties with that oil in the engine I would be concerned about the oil going to where it's needed on startups.

I use 20W50 all season because it's suited for the widest range of temps. Another reason is I buy the same weight by the case and use it in both my Harley and BMW.

20-50 syn is recommended for the temperature range I ride in. If they made 20-60 syn in my brand I would run it. If they gave away free oil in my brand and the weight I need I would smile when I changed the oil. Oil change in my bike is more expensive then my truck or jeep due to the cost of a chrome filter plus the brand. No----I don't run HD brand oil. Low bid contractor oil.
