10th digit of the vin is the model year.

So B designates 1981 and 2011. I would guess the problem is probably they don't have the 2011 motorcycle vin's in their computer system.This was a graph but it didn't paste.

 

Just curious--What state do you live in that you have to pay tax on a vehicle every year? Hope it ain't Texas, 'cause I plan to move there in the not-too-distant future. That would be a deal breaker for me,as would California emissions on vehicles. That would REALLY fry my 'nads!

 

Thanks for all of the replies. Again, the good thing is that my insurance company sees the year correctly. It is DMV and lojack with the issue.

Dickey - I live in Georgia. They keep talking about eliminating the ad valorem tax every year, but it never makes it all the way through so we keep having to pay....
