Hope I posted this in the right spot. So I picked up a 2006 Electra Glide made to look like a Street Glide. I'm wondering if by reading the VIN# there is some way I can tell if it was born as a Classic, Ultra, or what back in 2006. The previous owner bought it at auction so he wasn't sure. Any way to tell?
Don't know about the vin, but a standard would have a silver engine and no air temp or oil pressure gauge. A classic has the gauges, radio and black and chrome engine. Ultra had the extra lights on tour pack w/ rear speakers, plus intercome and cb. does it have provisions on the tank console for a mic?

I know its not a standard as it does not have the silver engine. The tour pack was removed and the tank console was replaced with a standard FLHX one to try to make it look more like a street glide so I'm not sure about the mic provisions. It does have the "ptt" button on the left grip next to the radio controls, not sure if that helps.
I'll have to check the VIN when I get home for the two letters after 1HD1.
