We paid $4.00 a beer this year.

I didn't get a very good impression of him or Angie by watching the show. Met them at a local bike event, got a very different impression. They we're both very cool. Walked around the event all day, talking to people, taking pictures with them. They seemed to be having a really good time.

There are several back ways in that can save a lot of time. You can normally make it from exit 32 to Glencoe in about 15-20 minutes (a little longer at the peak) by making a right at the big Cross and then working your way north on the back streets. I like Davenport myself, but sooner or later you will dump out on Lazelle at Chubb's. From the west, exit at 30, make a left at McDonalds and follow that road all the way down to the civic center with no traffic. If things are really bad in town, exit 34 offers a very scenic ride past the national cemetery on hard dirt, that puts you out on the highway at the VA hospital.

I am always amazed when people go to the rally and bitch about the traffic and crowds. What were you expecting? There are several shortcuts around downtown, and if you know what you are doing, it doesn't take long to get around most of the time. After three years at the Chip, we stayed 3 miles outside of town, paid a reasonable price, bought beer in Whitewood for a decent price, and had a blast. The owner of the campground even drove my wife to the Pizza Hut one night.

An outdoor beer garden in Whitewood charged 3 bucks a can for beer and had a live band. The band wasn't Jackyl or Kid Rock, but it passed the time.

One of these years, I am going to stay in somebody's yard. Sounds like convenient fun. Do they let you use a shower? Do you at least get to use the hose?

Your first trip is just for getting your feet wet. Hey to Ron/Don from Illinois, BTW.

Got to remember that the BS meter tops out when the little red light comes on. You've watched OCC, WCC and the rest.

I stayed at the Buff Chip...I had a blast. Didn't even need to leave the campground because there was always something going on. Did my rides and would come back to the Chip for concerts etc at night. It wasn't expensive, all concerts were included and hung out at the tent when i wanted to chill. Will stay there again next year. I wouldn't of had as much fun if I stayed at a house away from the area.

My 2 cents

The place I stayed at was Across the alley, then maybe 1 or to blocks from the civic center that they turn into a biker expo. for the ralley. You can go there & use their showers, gym, swiming pool. They also have a lounch with TVs. It was great. It was the frist time that I was at the Surgis rally. I rode my Bike all the way from Northern Wisconsin with one of my Bros, meet up with some guys from my home town in wall. Stayed one night at the Crest Veiw cabins resort in wall. Rode into Sturgis the next day & got lucky & was able to rent a cabin at Full Throtle. They only had it for one night. Which was enogh if you ask me. Went down town the next morning & found the house with camping on main street. Again her name was Magen, I had more fun there than any place else. She was pretty young, maybe 30 years old if that. her freinds came around & would party with us. I highly recomend staying there. The old season ralley goers that I know all say that I got pretty lucky with everthing that I stunbled into. Next summer me & my bro that I went to Sturgis with are going to Laconia, NH. bike week. Any body been there? Any sugestions for frist timer?
