Default Winter repairs

I'm plannin on doin a bunch of repairs this winter, so I figured I would photograph the progress and post what little knowledge I have or gain as I go. What I'm hopin to do is prove that even an idiot like me can wrench. My winter repair list includes: new shift shaft and seal, possibly new valve cover gaskets, and maybe new tires. I also have to change rotors and pads. I will be working from manuals so if I get somthin wrong please point it out as I do not want to lead anyone down the wrong path. Below you'll see photos of my basement shop. Hopefully I'll be ridin a perfectly good scoot in the spring.

When I started my Apprenticeship back in 69, I had a Journeyman tell me if U never make any mistakes,,,,,, its cause U never did anything.

Best way to learn is, dive in. Go slow and easy,, staying Sober while doing it is also a Plus...

Hey man you've got a plan , that's a good part of the battle done already . First and foremost safety tip get anything with gas involved off the bike and outside NOW . I see a water heater & the furnace down there , doesn't take much in the way of gas fumes to ruin your day in that environment . If you still can take bike out doors to drain everything and let it air for a while , the wife will love long time for not smelling or possibly blowing the house the up .

Too late

She came home from work and immediatly started bichin about the gas smell. Thought I only had a drop in the tank... more like a gallon. thank god the water heater and furnace have sealed combustion chambers.
