HOV laws are federal and motorcycles are encouraged to use this lane for safety reasons, as are Interstate highways...

Just an FYI if you're ever traveling in Canada.
MC's are OK in all HOV lanes in Canada EXCEPT in Ontario. (unless of course you're riding 2-up.)

What a stupid place I live in.

Man, the riding here is awesome! Been taking advantage of the HOV lanes for shooting down to Seattle and back quickly. In my car, it takes 45-60 mins in rush hour. On the bike, ~15.

Today, I rode up to Mukilteo, cut to the front of the ferry line, rode the length of Whidbey to Deception Pass, back down, ferry back to Muk, had some Ivar's chowder. Now hanging in a cafe with a view of the water, watching the ferry and "working"

A bit windy, but IT'S JANUARY AND I'M RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE! Who cares?!

Can't wait for the Oyster Run!

As others have said, you'll enjoy the Oyster Run, biggest MC event around here. BTW, Oyster Run weekend (September 24th/25th this year) is the only time of the year that MCs don't get to go to the front of the ferry line. If they did, no cages would be able to board with ~20,000 bikes attending the Oyster Run. Check out the Oyster run at http://www.oysterrun.org/index.html

They Ferry line thing is a big plus especially in the summer. In a car on weekends you can wait 3 or 4 hours, on a bike you go to the head of the line 1st on 1st off the ferry. My sister and my Folks live on Whidbey Island so I always take my bike when I go to see them.
A great ride is take the Mukilteo ferry to Whidbey Island then half way up the island take the Keystone ferry to historical Port Townsend great place for lunch then down to Kingston and take the ferry back to Edmonds. It's a great day trip only possible because you are on a bike and can go to the head of the line. Here is a link to a map http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,1.231842&z=10
