On Valencia just east of Euclid. If he lives in Anaheim he should know where this is.

I don't know why they do that. Some DMV courses are open and some are locked up. The one in Culver City is locked up, but Hawthorne is open. Are they concerned about liability, folks getting injured in the off hours practicing, or do they want to prevent folks from trying it out before hand?

Fun Bike Center in San Diego has one on the parking lot. It is open to the public when the store is open. web page: www.funbike.com
San Diego may be too far south for your customer, but it is there.

dmv course
The Escondido course doesn't even allow the rider to warm up or have a single practice lap- When test time comes you just have to do it cold turkey. At Oside they allow you to warm up as long as you want to. I admire folks who take the time and develop the necessary skills to pass the DMV skills test. I have seen plenty of riders with their M1 from MSF who cannot control their bike at slow speed and really cant turn more then about 70% when steering. No wonder so many accident reports read loss of control in a corner or curve! Years ago when I tookthe local college course they told us so long as we did not drop the bike on test day we would get our license. Yikes!!!!!
