Default Leather Braids

I am from the East Coast and I have been living in SoCal for a short time and I see a lot of bikes with these long leather braids hanging from thier brake levers. What is the signifcance of these braids and where can they be found if someone wants one?

Thanks
Matt

It's just style, no significance. You can get them out of aftermarket parts catalogs such as JP Cycles.

Don't know if it really is a 'girl thing' - have seen some pretty tough and scruffy individuals riding with them on - both male and female. I don't have the braid thingies but I do have my leather tassels - and I can even make them go the opposite directions!!

Bite me, Bandit! I don't have the braids from my brake lever, though. I've run a single piece of braided leather from the end of my throttle for about 20 years. It's about 3 feet long. It's a conversation starter, and when someone asks what it's for, I tell 'em it's my backup speedometer. If it's hangin' straight down, I'm stopped. If it's angled back a bit, I'm goin' sorta slow. If it is straight out behind me, I'm toolin' along right smart. If it's beating me severely about the head and shoulders, I'm probably fixin' to get a ticket.

You could prob go visit your local toy store, and snag some off of a tricycle.

This thread is worthless without pictures.

I have IronBraids on my levers, and they help hold the levers, plus I like the way they look. You can see then in my photo gallery.

Making a comment that braids are a girl thing is as off the wall as the thread that alludes to Sportsters being girl bikes.

Regards,

Bill

Do you mean "Get Back Straps?" Take a look at the 5th picture down on this site http://www.rnrfabrication.com/victory.htm
