Default Headset communications?

Im sure this will be one of the more less intelligent questions asked here but im going to ask anyways. My wife has finally decided she wants to start riding with me(which means I finally get to buy a bike) but what really got her wanting to do this was the fact that we could go on rides and trips with a couple of our really good friends. Im curious as to what I will need to set up some type of communications between my wife and buddys' wife so they could yap during the trip and keep them occupied... They both have the gift of gab and it would be hell for either of the 2 to be unable to talk to each other while on a 2 or 3 hr drive... Can someone point me in the right direction?

We just got back from a four day 1000 mile trip to the north shore of MN. We bought a set of scala G4s and were very pleased. The bluetooth works great for answering cellphone calls but has some trouble initiating calls out with voice recognition. The driver to rider com worked good. I found that when it went to standby mode it would take a loud voice command of some sort to break into active mode again, may take a few trys or a few seconds. We got the system the day before our trip so we did not have time to get real familiar with it. We have not yet used the FM radio feature. The speakers were amazingly clear even at speed with loud pipes. I put one helmet on my wife and she went on a pontoon ride onto a lake with me on the shore they worked good out to about 3/4 mile. Our cost was about $340 from 4wheels online. I would recomend these. My wife and I joke that we talked more on the trip than in the last two years. Mike

I used to find that really annoying too. So, after a month or 2 I finally thoroughly read the instructions and found that there's a way to stay "permanently" connected. We've stayed connected for 5+ hours already and still had plenty of battery life left.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

The HD speakers that came with the commo system on my Ultra are really not very good. Increase volume and the sound is very distorted. Playing music from radio is absolutely horrible! Sounds like a speaker with a torn cone.....buzzing/distortion like crazy. Any recommendations for a much better speaker to replace the HD set?

We don't use any radio communications. Loud pipes and solo seats... and the relationship hasn't been better.

I have used Chatterboxes, with varying degrees of success. Wouldn't single them out if I were to buy another, wouldn't rule them out either.

Well the standard plug in communication that the Ultras come with is bullet proof. What type of bike do you have?
