FAA, Pilots or someone w/similar experience, help on this.
I'm traveling to the US and bringing back with me a set of wheels and tires (mounted) for my ride.
My question is: Do you know of any airline safety restrictions on flying pressurized systems (such as mounted wheel/tire, inflated or un-inflated)???
Logically I would guess that un-inflated tires wouldn't be a problem but I want to be sure before I show up at the documentation desk and get the boot [:@]
Thank you for your help on this.

If you call your airline, or any airline that flies in and out of the states, they can let
you know what is and isn't allowed. All the airlines have to follow the sames rules.

I'm sure prior to 9-11.They wouldn't give it a second thought.I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they indeed have some sort of restrictions.Interesting question though

I guess you right brother... I could order the set to be delivered UPS ground but over 2K for the entire kit + shipping all the way down to Mexico, makes me think twice. Besides, my biggest concern is that if I go tru the normal ordering-shipping-customs-delivery process disregarding the shipping cost, I will be RAPED by mexican customs with taxes...
Anyway, I'll contact the airline.
Thank you guys.
Best regards.

Take a look at CFR 49 (hazardous materials) and see what it states about pressurized devices. Tires do not have a safety relief valve and as such could explosivly decompress at altitude if the cargo hold loses pressure or if thru mishandling are punctured.
Your best bet would be without air and with the valve stems removed.

Mounted tires must be inflated to no more than 25 percent of max pressure rating for pressurized cargo transport. Less than 5 psi un-pressurized.

*****!!! [:@]
I've just hanged the phone with the airline rep. No, tires are not allowed. I explained that removing the center of the valve leaves an "scape valve", free flow between the inner pressure and the pressure in the outside... guess what? No, it is not the pressure issue, it is the flamability level of the tire! I wonder what percentage of the luggage has the same flamability level of the tire's rubber?
This really bugs me...

Offer to wrap them in asbestos cloth and see if she will fly.
Or try FedEx or UPS.
We mail unmounted tires all the time in Alaska.
