I have purchased and downloaded the latest NA maps for the GTS.
When I try and upload to the bike the GTS gives a message: Authentication . If you want to cancel remove flash drive.
The system hangs there .
I recently updated our maps. I had a couple of issues. I started over, formatting 16mg usb. Getting nav information from bike again. Then downloading the update to usb from pc. Second time worked. Not sure why. After authentication it took about an hour to complete the update.
I recently updated mine - and it was a little different.
Seems the bike now wants your "footprint" from the current map. So, before downloading the new maps, I have to copy the footprint from the bike on the newly formatted drive. Just to be safe, I used a 32 gig flash drive.
This guy does a great job and was very helpful. Downloading from my computer took some time.
Once downloaded, I installed the flash drive into my bike - took a few minutes
Thanks for this but it does not answer my question. I now have NO MAPS OR DEALER LOCATIONS AT ALL.
I follow the instructions, several times from start to finish. Always get stuck when replacing thumb drive in bike and getting the "authentication" popup. It hangs there.
Tried with MAC, PC, Chrome, MacOS two different USB sticks.

HD no help so far.
Sounds like something is missing from your files. Here is my suggestion.
Go to the Harley site and download the latest software (not the maps) but the software.
Go to the bike, turn it on to ACC, put the flash drive in and let the navigation load. It will feel like nothing is happening - just let it run and do its thing. This normally takes a little time - but it will reset everything. Remember, let it run - don't touch anything

I did as you suggested. I uploaded the latest firmware for the GTS which I had previous to trying a new Map upgrade. The upload went perfect, a SUCCESSFUL message appeared. So I then took a clean USB exported a new fingerprint and downloaded the new map once again. Alas, nothing had changed. Could not get passed the Authenticate.....
I checked again and screen on bike says: No Map Database, No Dealer Database, ........
What do you think a RESET to factory defaults would do? Anything besides erase all my current settings?
Thanks for the excellent suggestion though. I even tried to upload the firmware a second time. It was also successful but made no difference in Nav databases being available.

I was hopeful that when you uploaded the new software, it would just take you back to the current factory defaults.
So, curious, once you installed the software download (not the maps), did you have the dealer database and map database?
If not, a factory reset would just erase your settings - and you can make those changes later when the system is running.
