Default STD Shovelhead info

Have a bike that has a shovelhead motor on it. The only thing stamped on it is STD and 5203 on the motor. Number on frame has x's across the old numbers/letters. Then it has been stamped with some new numbers including the 5203 and ending in 76. Is this a repro bike with a 76 look alike shovelhead motor?I was told it was titles as an FX 1988. Fixing to order some parts and was just wandering if I had the right year for the motor.

You know you love your Shovelhead too much when you give it a STD.

I'm going to guess that it's a salvage bike.

First, we are gonna need some pictures but it sounds like a classic parts bike. Head over to:

These guys live and breath Shovels. Most of them think Harley went out of business in 1984 and anything without cast iron jugs is for women. Post pictures and ask questions, they are the ultimate in wealth and knowledge in the Shovelhead world.

i think 84 was the last year the shovel was produced so it's gotta be from more than one bike.

Thanks for the replies. The owner thought it was built as a replica bike out of Ca. Heading to the shovel forum.
