3 summers on my bike, im on my 4th set of tires, and ill need the 5th set by summers end, and i dont have California weather to ride in, i have been riding for 38 yrs. Quit assuming you ride and the complainers dont, your sadly mistaken. I have met nobody yet who rides as much as I do, I feel I earned the right to complain about the heat, and if i want too, the cold as well.
I'm in SW Oklahoma, temps here have been at or above 100 for at least 2 weeks. I've limited my riding due to the risk of dehydration. The heat is bad, but I can tolerate it. Frequent stops for water or Gatorade help, but it's still an ordeal.
Im in texas but it really hadnt gotten hot this year. we are only on maybe day 20 of 100 here in dfw last year this time it was 115 and over 100 for 2 months already.
Soooo hot in the mitten state, today I watched a robin pull a worm out of the ground with oven mitts on! It's soo hot, the chickens on the chicken farms around here are laying hard boiled eggs.
The challenge of the day when riding in the heat is dealing with tar snakes. Okay I'm done, time to move on.
Couple of buddies of mine were "working overseas" where it's 120 degrees, no shade, and they're wearing long sleeves & pants, and carrying 60 pounds of gear around the desert all the time. I got nothin' to complain about. They're workin' while I get to ride whenever I want.
