I have a 1999 xl1200c with a windshield. I was thinking of switching it out with a black memphis shades gaunlet fairing. Does the gaunlet block as much or more wind than a windshield??

 

as far as wind blockage goes...

Full Fairing > Windshield > Cafe Fairing

as far as the resulting buffeting... YMMV

 

thanks for the reply but what does YMMV stand for? Are you showing the best ones in order for wind blockage? Full fairing>windshield>cafe fairing? Does the memphis shades gaunlet fairing the same as cafe fairing?

 

Your Mileage May Vary; some people experience different amounts of buffeting with different setups.

That was my opinion of most to least wind blockage, and i do consider the guantlet to be a cafe style fairing. I run a windshield and am buying a memphis shades replacement plastic soon, for what it's worth.
