Daytime running lights
Wondering how people feel about daytime running lights on cars. These have been mandated in Canada for years and in my opinion in grey weather, rain, or at dusk they do allow riders to see oncoming traffic better and possibly allow for better judgement in passing etc. It seems anything that makes all traffic more visible to each other can't be a bad thing?
It used to be if you saw a head light coming, it was generally a motorcycle. Now it isn't. We became even more invisible! GM had bright parking/running lights for a while. I thought that was a much better idea. But, nobody asked me....
I have to agree with Simple Man. If everyone has their lights on how can we expect a motorcycle to stand out from the crowd? It is unfortunate but I do believe we have become more invisible, but I don't have an answer, that would make sense, to correct that issue.
A motorcycle will never be as visible as a cage so it's best to be on your guard at all times and not put your safety in the hands of anyone but you.

I am absolutely sold on driving lights. I rode Beemers for years and they all had add-on driving lights, normally PIAA units. It was something I automatically added. When I got my Road Glide Ultra last year, it didn't have driving lights and I was suddenly faced several close calls from being invisible. I added fork-mounted Glenda LED lights from Clearwater Lights and the problem was solved.
Then I switched from the RGU to a Road King this year. Because of the three stock lights on the front, I figured I didn't need additional driving lights but I'm apparently invisible again. Needless to say, I have another set of Glendas on order. They aren't the brightest lighting in the Clearwater arsenal but that doesn't seem to matter. I'm guessing that it's the distinctive vertical light pattern that catches the eye?

I added the Custom Dynamics white/amber led turn signals to my Breakout front - extremely bright white running lights that increase in brightness with hi-beam on, and amber inner ring for turn signal.
Extremely bright - I get lots of comments on visibility from the front. Highly recommended - pop in replacements and reasonably priced.

My wife's car has I where her headlights are on dim all of the time. More and more cars come that way now.
I run the bike with my brights on and I have Custom Dynamics LED run/stop/turn lights too. The other day, I saw a bike and the headlight was spinning, rotating or something. I know it sure was noticeable.

DRL's are a great idea, but on vehicles that are set to "auto". I've seen countless people on the road that forget to turn on their lights at night and have no running rear lights on. Unknown to them as their DRL's are on and they have half the amount of headlights on, but with no running tail lights.
