Default clutch methods for suicide shifter

I just picked up my project bike and one of my must haves is a suicide shifter. I have deterrmined two ways I can pullthe clutch cable. I can put the clutch lever on the shifter arm itself or I can use the left foot control that used to shift the bike to do it. I am leaning towards the foot control because I can't see how I can get a proper grip on the lever with it behind me like the shifter will likely be. For those who have one which metod do you use and what are your reasons?

Well, hate to disappoint ya, but they ain't no sech thang as a suicide shifter.

They is a suicide clutch, and a jockey shifter.

Or a suicide clutch and a tank shifter.

Or a suicide clutch and a hand shifter.

Not to mention rocker clutches, set up stock or suicide.

Yeah, I'm pickin' on ya. I've ridden with a foot clutch and hand shift for most of my 34 years of scooter jockeying. Wouldn't have it any other way.

It's all good, my panties don't bunch easily I counted on screwing up the terminology.
Having ridden both the foot clutch and shifter-mounted which do you prefer?

Well, when you're running a jockey shift and ridin two up, you tend to just get a hand full of leg each time you go to shift.

Well the guy who had my bike cut the frame off so when I repair it I am going to mock up the seat and weld it in such a way so my lady's knee isn't in my way when it's done. I want one of those old 70's king and queen type stepped seat so it should get her up high enough to be out of the way.

Foot clutch and hand shift is my preference. Just installed a jockey lever on my Sloptail. Don't care for the clutch lever on the shift lever, though it is a great thing for someone who has lost, or lost the use of, a leg/foot.

Good traditional choice. You can also cut down the shifter or add to it so you reach it where you want to find it. It has to be natural so you don't have to look down to find it.

Just behind my butt seems to feel natural. I will have to make everything whichI like because it will be one-of-a-kind and fit me perfect.

A long time friend rode a knuckle head with a jockey shift. I recall him saying he could hook his left thumb in the forward corner of his left hind pocket and his fingers could reach the shifter head.

That is a perfect decription of where I am wanting it. I can't wait to get cracking on the mod, it's going to be very cool.
