Are you saying that the laws pertaining to the road surface markings vary in the Canadian provinces and territories?

In the US the laws pertaining to the road surface markings are federal and are standardized across all 50 states. It is the same for traffic signals and traffic signs... they are the same in all 50 states.

I certaily agree with your latter sentence, though.
