Default Do You Listen to Music While You Ride?

One of my Dad’s favorite phrases is “terminally stupid,” and since I just got back from spending a bunch of time with the old man over the holidays, it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this pic.

Obviously, watching a movie while riding a motorcycle is asking for a Darwin Award nod. But listening to music is another thing entirely. While I’ve used ear buds under my helmet in the past—maybe not the smartest move—I’ve never ridden a bike with an on-board stereo, so I can’t speak to whether I’d like it. But since I generally subscribe to the less-is-more aesthetic of motorcycles, and I don’t like it when people blare music at stoplights, I don’t know if I’d be able to enjoy it.

How about you?

The sound of the engine and the wind. That's why I ride.

Nothing like listening to the tunes while cruising through some looong lonely stretch of interstate. Music can be a nice break on those rides. Yes I listen to tunes... I know there will the "I listen to my bike" people but during a long day in the saddle nothing beats some tunes.

Never felt comfortable with ear buds or helmet speakers, but on both of my touring bikes I hook an I-Pod to the stereo and put it on shuffle.

Got music on both bikes, and glad to have the tunes.

I like to listen to rock and roll thru the intercom system. My wife and I have headsets so it is nice to listen to some tunes sometimes. We both love music and our Harley! Great combination. jimr1960

On very long runs when the boredom hits , and I start to feel tired I will put my earbuds in and the music snaps me out if it.

I rode for years without a stereo and never thought anything about it because I didn't no any different. Finally I decided to try mounting an mp3 player under the visor of my helmet using small speakers in my 3/4 helmet. This system worked really well for about 3 years then I got my 2010 Ultra. After getting a bike with a factory stereo I found my preference to be using the stock speakers on the bike with my mp3 player plugged into the aux switch. I do occasionally ride without the stereo on but it's on more than it's off.

In a word, yes.
