Default Saddlebag help

Hey every one. First time poster here .

Well lets get to the meat and potatoes of why I'm here. I've found some saddlebags I would like to get for my 1200 custom sportster (2009) if that matters. Lets get the disappointment out of the way. No I can't afford HD bags . Now with that said I'm looking at these http://www.vikingbags.com/harley-spo...-7827-prd1.htm

I know bags on a sportster? Yeah I'll be taking this bike to work. So here are the questions (tried customer service 5 times throughout the day and got no answers). Will these bags get in the way of my girlfriend sitting on the back? Will I need directional relocators if I have the harley bag mount? I'd love to hear from someone who has these bags and how you like them.

Thanks

Vikings are really nice bags for the money. No, they won't be in the way of your GF. If your signals are currently mounted to your fender struts they will have to be relocated. Vikings relocation kit mounts them to your license plate bracket.

At the price of Viking bags, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you very much for a timely response and the photos. Do you happen to recommend any specific helmet locks? Also will that shock cut out that comes on the ones I want look stupid with the hd mounts?

Beware of their customer service. I bought a set last year for my Softail and the locks would not keep the bag closed. Bobbie was there customer service person that promised me back in October 2013 that a new set of bags would be sent I'm still waiting. Omar is Bobbies replacement and I've spoken to him twice, he now does not return my calls and I still am waiting for the bags. That said, the bags are very nice looking and appear to be well made with the exception of the locks. I used them going to the 110th 2,000 mile round trip and no water got in and except for having to budgie cord them during he ride they held up well.

Good luck

I'm not sure what the "HD Mounts" are. Are you referring to Harley saddle bag mounts? If so, I'm not even sure if they'll work with Viking bags. Maybe you can post a pic?

I hear ya, mine were sent out without the signal relo kit. But Bobbie did get a set expedited to me. The type I used didn't need the locks to keep them closed, the Velcro did that. It seems like your locks should be a fairly simple fix, no? But, We should also mention that the 2 bags will require 2 different keys, which is totally asinine. But again, for the money .... I think mine only came to like $120 shipped for everything.

In other words, caveat emptor.

To sum up the responses, the Viking bags are great..... unless you have a problem with them. mskirwin loves them; bungee cords and all.

Sorry, to me customer service is half the sale. But, for most people, money talks and the lure of "less expensive" usually wins out.

If you buy them... good luck. Sounds like you'll need it.

FYI

Here is a link to a very recent thread specifically addressing the key issue. It even includes a response from Viking bags. Interestingly enough, I posted my two cents in that thread also.

Yes I do mean the harley saddlebag mounts. Will it look dumb on those mounts if those mounts work with it having the shock cut out? Sorry no photos yet. Still in the dealers storage until the snows gone.
