Default help me pick new bars

just picked this up yesterday. only pic I have at the moment but it has jumbo beach bars on it and they have to go now haha.
I want to change bars without having to buy new cables so drag bars are not an option at this time. looks like ape hangers are my only choice. my problem is how do I figure out how tall the bars should be before I order them. by looking at it, it seems to me that something between 12"-16", I really don't want to go any higher then my shoulder height... thoughts???

is there any extra wiring or cable tucked out of site? those look pretty wide so I'm guessing they are longer than stock so 10" bars might fit with those cables

I have not pulled the dash yet to see what has been done to it, will try to do that this weekend. no turn signals on the bike but I will add them so thats wire added with no problem if all other parts are still under the dash.. wiring should not be a problem for me if all the stock connection points are there. its just those cables I'm worried about. don't have the money for new shorter ones, would like to go with a drag bar but feel they are too long for that at this time. I'll try to remember to get more pics tomorrow and measure what cable is showing from the tank up. I might could do a little rerouting to take up some slack? 10"-12" apes would fit me nicely I think..
