Default shoulda looked at reviews? jiffy stand spring replacement

Bottom of my bike hit my driveway ramp just right and took off the jiffy stand spring. I was able to put it in the down position and park it.

Amazon had a replacement for $18.

My bike was in the list of bikes it was made for on the amazon item page.

The spring they sent falls out immediately. I went back and looked at reviews and there were at least a dozen or so like me that had the same experience.

I'm grabbing an OEM one this afternoon. I may grab two and keep a spare in my took kit. I'm looking at the stand as well as the bracket that attaches to the frame and it is pretty beefy, doesn't look like anything was damaged other than the spring when it got torn off.

I have had that experience, not sure why but the jiffy stand spring is 100% an item you want to find OEM when needed. Aftermarket always sucks with them. Good luck.

I keep an extra spring in the saddlebag. Plus a small bungee in case I need to hold the stand up until I get where I can change the spring. I've had a spring break before and had neither item at the time.

Mine came off on a dip at gas station in Custer a few years back. I made it back to the campground and put it back on. When I got home I went to Tractor Supply and bought a spring just like original for $3. Keep it in my saddlebag just in case.

Even if you grab two, you're still under Amazon's price.

I'm going to have to look for some videos of folks replacing that spring. I don't believe I could do it on a road trip, even if I had one in the saddlebags.

My guess is if you bottom a plus 1000 lb bike and rider on concrete and rip off the spring, there is a good likelihood some other damage has occurred.

You can't do it alone.

A lot of people have a lot of different ways to install a new spring but this is the easiest way I've seen.
ETA. Be sure to attach the new spring as shown in the video or it may pop off on its own.

bungee ✔️
cable ties ✔️
duct tape ✔️

Then I check fluids, tires etc.
