Ultra Classic, Electra Glide or Road King?
Hello everyone,
This is my first post but hopefully will not be my last. I just last week sold my 04 Goldwing and I am in the market for a new or slightly used 04/05 Harley Davidson. I have wanted one for many years and now I am about to take the plunge. I am looking at the Ultra Classic but also really like the Electra Glide and Road King as well. Any input from you folks with be really appreciated. Other than the obvious differences about the bikes. It looks like they have the same motor, transmission, gears, tire size, etc. Like I said any input would be greatly appreciated. I am a big guy and will sometimes be riding with a passenger. I also plan some long trips. Actually I am planning a trip to Alaska from Texas in July.
Regards,
John

Ultra Classic, espy if you plan on long trips its the only way to go. I dont even ride my Fatboy locally as the Ultra handles just fine and I really like the radio.
hmmm, considering the bike you are coming from, i would suggest ultra classic. assuming of course that you want something kinda like the wing. for those long trips, you can't beat the comfort.
Ultra classic is your best choice.
I think the road king is geared like the smaller harleys( softail, dyna ) But not for sure check into it.
I have heard that the so called highway bikes are geared different. I dont know if the road king is considered highway or cruiser.
The ultra is just that ultra everything. alot of long trips planned i would go ultra or classic.

i like the ultra, ive rode friends bikes for a few days before i decided, and i liked both, but the ultra had a radio, and cruise control, and the cb for longer trips, I dont regret my decision. Im 31 was accused of having a geezer glide untill they all realized thier wives wanted to ride with me on the interstate, one of them is picking up a new classic this week, good luck in whatever your decision is and let us see it!!

You have to go for the Ultra coming off an Goldwing. You'll like all the bells and whistles and also the reliability. The comfort and room is what you need. I have an `04 in vivid Black and I will never ride 2 up on anything else...Enjoy!

I like the Road Glide myself. It is supposed to be more stable at lower speeds then its bat winged brethren since the fairing is mounted to the frame instead of the forks. I can not give you anything more than what I have read, though. Have not had the chance to ride one yet. My next HD will be a Road Glide. In silver.
