Default Stripped bolt head on timer cover

I have this posted in the touring section for my 01 RK. When I replaced my timer cover with the Willie G., I was not aware they took shorter screws, hence one of the heads stripped. I had many good suggestions but none that would easily work for me. In any case what I finally ended up doing was drilling off the head of the bolt, then removed the 4 remaining screws thus allowing me to remove the cover. Once I had the cover off I was able to get on the remainder of the stripped screw with vise grips and unscrew it. Just thought I would post it here should anyone else come accress a similar situation.
