5,000 mile service
So I know Harley has the 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 mile "service" they offer. MY question is, what in the hell could possibly cost 350 dollars to do? Will it void my warranty if I DON'T do it? I have a 2010 Street Glide that has been well taken care of, but aside from a small 150 dollar tune up I just can't see tossing almost 400 bucks down for a little bit of a tune up on steroids.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Get the maintenance manual and do it yourself; I ordered the book the same day I rode my bike out. I did take mine back for the 1,000 mile service/check since they ate the labor and only charged for the fluids used.

The reason they cost so much is that in addition to $75.00 worth of fluids, they're gonna' charge you for perfectly good reusable gaskets that you'd keep and they'll throw away. Add 2 hours, ( that part's legit,) of labor at what $75 or $80 / hour and you get $350.
The 5K is simply common sense, with the exception of the clutch adjustment inside the primary. No special tools. Get the manual and learn something about your bike to boot!

The clutch adjustment is common sense also! OF course Mark Twain did say "Common sense ain't all that common" So you just have to figure out which side of that quote you are on (hint: either the $350 side or the do it yourself side)
BTW my dealership only charges $250 for the service. I still did it myself but they are jacking you for an extra $100

The dealership hasn't touched my bike since installing a stator in 2007 at 32,000 miles. It turned 88,567 when I fueled it yesterday.
I couldn't afford for them to service it.

I jut purchased my first HD, a 2001 Softail STD. It only had 2,100 miles on it, but it's 10 years old. I took it in to the dealership to have it looked over. They did a "Full Service" that cost $330. What do they do in a "full service"?

Read your owners manual. It clearly states what service is required at those intervals. You can do it yourself. Skipping those services does void your warranty.

There are a lot of youtube videos that show you how to do a clutch adjustment.
