Most scams are.
No harm.
The ones that work though are targeted at people to allow them to think they're the one who it's going to get something over on someone else.
They deserve it

Quite a profound statement

Yours, not so much.
Again, the only people that fall for scams are those looking to get something over on someone else themselves.
You can't scam an honest person.
Scammers rely on the same greed in their target that they have.

Translated:It seems that cheating is the norm among you Americans. I was looking for a Keihin butterfly carburetor and was referred by Ronnie to Scotty and then to Dynamic Autos, all via email.
I had a bad feeling about Scotty's offer.
Then I contacted Dynamic Autos (DA), and they sent me photos of the carburetor. The detailed photos looked good, and the price of $140, including shipping to Switzerland, was reasonable.
Long story short, I sent the money and haven't heard anything from this crook since.

PS: I'm still looking for a Keihin butterfly carburetor 27029-83C for my 1984 Softail FXST.

I'm going to disagree a bit. I'm looking to buy an old tool, a Trock base lapper. I'm wiling to pay a fair price but they haven't been available retail for years since Trock (Jim, I think) died. Not looking to get over on anyone, just to buy a tool I need to fix my 34 year old Harley. I'm even willing to rent the tool, leave a deposit, and ship it back. I've gotten six messages and five of them are scams for sure based on the "provide an email, say the guy doesn't come on the forum much", the sixth looked OK, I got back a reasonable email saying that he rented his out if people needed it, but now when I search for his alleged handle, it doesn't exist. So no greed happening here on my end, but I could see someone thinking that offers to sell an old tool were legit.

PS Got another one yesterday from "garnerman28r" who so far in his three previous posts on the forum had posted "Just got my first bike" and then yesterday messaged me that he had the tool for sale as he hadn't used it in a year. Yeah, right. Never had a bike but you've got tools kicking around that haven't been sold in 20 years and are for EVO engines that haven't been made in 25. 😁

There's 350 million of us Americans, so I'm not sure that getting scammed by one person makes it the norm. I'm sure there are scammers in Europe too. I'd also point out that a lot of scam outfits don't run out of the USA, so there's that.

There are mods for each section. I found this out during this. I dont know of a way to see them on mobile. If you you visit full site or visit on a computer their names are on the bottom right of each fourm.
