Anyone on here planning on heading to OBW this year? I have not been there for like 4 years but I hear it has really gotten big. Anyone go last year that can say how the crowds were? Some decent bands this year and the fairgrounds is back in the picture. Should be a good time this year.

 

We go every year . . . it's a pretty good time! We've been for the whole week before, but that's a waste. So, now, we usually head up on Thursday late morning/early afternoon, and stay until Sunday. Generally, it's a great party!

It definitely does get a little bit bigger every year! Typical rally stuff - food, $5 beers, vendors . . . in a couple of posts, lots of people will come along and explain how much they hate rallies. Just ignore them . . . LOL!

Where ya stay up there? 4 years ago or so the last time I was up there found a dirt cheap place called the Meca motel. Couldn't beat the price but not much to see.

 

I know where that place is . . . down on Cleveland Rd, right? Right past the park?

If you took Cleveland Rd back into town, there used to be a Comfort Inn on the right side, just after the road to Cedar Point. It became a Baymont last winter. We've always stayed there. However, the management was awful, and they stopped taking reservations in the winter . . . they pretty much cater to park traffic.

This year, I booked a room at the Econo Lodge on Cleveland Rd, right near Cedar Point Drive. Really close to the Baymont/Old Comfort Inn, and down the way from the Mecca. The prices aren't too bad (the Baymont jacked theirs up quite a bit this year . . . ), and it's still in the area that we like to stay.

There are a ton of hotels on Milan Road, heading up toward Mad River HD, but that's a loonnnngggg way to ride at 1 AM after hanging out downtown all day and night . . .

 

bunch of us Canadians eh r goin! thurs. to sun as well. were stayin up by mad river. we rip around all day at night we park the bikes and take taxis down town. no one needs a DWI!! great time for sure, great bands this year and ya its gettin bigger.

 

Ok how about telling the people who have never been there when it is?

 

The second weekend is the weekend to be there! It's pretty dead for the first half.

 

May 29th through June 7th but the last weekend is the big weekend where they block off downtown.

 

I will be there too. But going to Washington first.
