Default Travelling through St Louis heading West

For those of you that know the area,&nbsp\\; I'll be coming in to St Louis on 64 and leaving on 70.&nbsp\\; I'm wondering what the recommendations are for a smooth ride through/around the City and you think is best.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; I'd like to be able to keep moving and not get caught in a parking lot.
&nbsp\\;
I appreciate your help in advance.

Aclass, I live in the KC area but used to drive through St. Louis from 70 to 64 and return quite a bit.&nbsp\\; Unless something has changed, I don't think there is a better way to get through without going through downtown.&nbsp\\; Just hit it at the right time, other than morning or evening rush hours, and you should be okay.

I-64 to south I 255 which will turn into I 270 to WB 40/61 (I-64) to I 70.&nbsp\\;You will loop around the downtown area.

I go to Boeing in St. Charles a lot on business. Even at rush hour its slow but moves. I think its the best route you can choose.

I-64 is closed for construction between I-170 and I-270 until January 2009, so there is alot of extra traffic on I-70.

I work in STL and take 70 to the airport all the time if you hit it between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM&nbsp\\;you should have smooth salling.&nbsp\\; Also there are express lanes in the AM (not car pool).

Extremely important, timing is everything.

I'm with dougbk on 255/270 to Hwy 40. Hwy 40 used to be a real pain, but they only have one stoplight on it now and it brings you back to I-70 at Wentzville. Avoiding St. Louis proper is always worthwhile, but also avoiding St. Charles/St. Peters/O'Fallon is worth going the other way. Just do not hit I-270 during the morning rush. JMO

64 to 70 should be alright assuming that you aren't on 70 west of&nbsp\\;270 between like 2pm and 6pm....but 40/64 is closed between I 170 and I 270.....avoid that for sure.

As has been said, timing is everything if you're coming through on a weekday.&nbsp\\; (Weekends are no sweat anytime except before/after a Cardinals game)&nbsp\\; No matter what route you take, you'll be much happier (and stay cooler) if you hit town between 9 and 2.&nbsp\\;
