Eventually I'll have the 7" headlight and lightbar. Right now just want to make sure the 16X3 deluxe wheels will work out. Going to look at--and probably buy wheels this Sunday. Then just waiting on the parts I ordered. Gotta get the 25 mm axles too.
June 2013 American Iron featured a 1960 red and white duo glide stripped of bags and light bar and windshield. Reminded me of your bike. Your definetly doing a true tribute! Can't wait to see the FLS front on your bike. My bike will at least have a retro vibe and fools folks even now

update since my last post, I removed the gators and installed the fork tube covers, installed early style spot lamp mounts, coming in next week is a chrome nacelle to replace the aluminum one on there now, not installed is a roadking windshield that fits just right with no mods, and retro handbar top clamp cover in chrome, What would you guys suggest I do to get that old 70's FLH look

Here are some ideas if you are running out of projects:
This is my father's 2005 FXD. I like the Shovelhead "Chain" belt guard. I have no idea how he put it on but it looks great. He also took two oil tanks and put them together to make the electrical cover for the left side.
Battery cover adapted from a Shovelhead , once again I have no idea how he did it. He has 4 Shovelheads and lots of parts laying around.
I just wish I could get him to get rid of that damn Willie G derby cover. It came on the bike when he bought it and he just never got around to replacing it.

BTW he has the same J&P 1960-84 triple trees that you do. He has gone through 3 sets and is thoroughly pissed off at them. He has identified some flex in them (New York City potholes) and is replacing them with a real H-D set of trees.

Ya I got some of my inspiration from your dads bike, love the mock oil tank, not sure what you mean by flex in the trees, I have not ridden my bike much since the change as it got cold here fast and will now have to wait until spring

So I got my deluxe (perfect condition) wheels and at first appearance the rear hub looks like it may be to wide. I haven't taken anything apart yet but did some rough measurements looks to be ¼ to ½" difference I could be wrong and will do the front end conversion when I get my parts before I mess with the rear wheel. I searched all over and did find a post on the dyna forum by Toy_Truck where he installed a rear deluxe wheel on his switchback. Wouldn't the space between rear forks be the same as my street bob? If the hub is wider on the deluxe wheel wouldn't it throw off centering of the pulley and rotor? I know I can lace my dyna hub to the deluxe wheel, just asking if anyone knows.I did order 25mm axles and spacers as the deluxe wheels have 25mm bearings and '07 dyna is 1".I'll post this in the Dyna section and pm Toy_Truck but he hasn't posted on this forum in some time--Thanks

AFMM3 , what style forks are you going with, and the grey engine with black barrels really give the engine the old school look

Softail. It took quite a bit more work than just the grinding off the back of the lower tree. When I test fitted the trees, the tins would not fit because the trees were a 1/4" too far apart. Basically on my 2008, the bearing races were 1/4" farther apart from each other than on 2005 and older. I had to mill 1/4" off the top tree to bring it down and grind off the the top of the neck until all fit perfectly.

AMF, your dad's bike looks really good, I just pulled up a pic of a 73' and then your dad's bike scrolled up on split screen should this thread. The electrical cover and coil cover are spot on! Maybe as a gift to your dad you could have a custom durby cover made with two pieces. The main pice would be slightly thinner the a stock cover by maybe a 1/16" on the edges and a little more towrds the center, this would be the working cover and then have a cosmetic cover that is machined to look like the three bolt cover off a 70's FLH and it would some how mount to the main cover filling in that 1/16". Hope that all make since.
