Back in 2014 I actually bought a 2008 and newer FLSTC front wheel that had a broken spoke on eBay for $90. When I got it, it was actually only a broken spoke nipple which I replaced. Putting that wheel on made everything perfect.
Carl - talked to my father about the battery cover on his Dyna. He took the battery tray from a Shovelhead 4 speed frame and adapted it to fit onto the Dyna battery tray. It said it was a major pain and would have done it a little differently the next time, especially having it stick out another inch or so.

Hmmm. I love the look of the louvered battery cover & would like to try to do that. Might try to pick up a used one cheap & experiment with it.
Still thinking about going to a ham can a/c. Looks like it should be easy enough to do & would do a good job of throwing a bit more of that '70's stank on 'er. That's all down the road, though. 1st order of business is to get the front end sorted.

AFMM3-or anybody else who might know~ will the FLD covered shocks work with a mustang vintage wide solo seat. I'm gathering parts to get my bike a little more retro and really like the look of the covered shocks, but I thought I may have read they won't fit with the wide seat.

Here is a picture of SURFORChop's Dyna with a normal Mustang seat and FLD Shocks. Your guess is as good as mine, but I think it might work otherwise get a set of Fat Bob shocks.

It's good to see that this group is still active. My build has been on hold for quite awhile. I plan to finish it in 2016. Finally.

Well I just bought a set of FLD shocks on eBay. Next I start piecing together an FL front end, Maybe putting the fat bob trees and street bob forks on my wife's sportster, with a 16" wheel and softail slim fender, we'll see.

Fat Bob trees and Street Bob forks on a Sportster? Who woulda thunk that would work.......
We did that about 5 years ago when my kid had a Nightster. You just have to whittle off a bunch of aluminum from the back of the lower tree and re-drill the steering lock hole in the stem. Also needed the Progressive 2 inch drop kit to level out the bike. Actually a very easy swap with incredible handling and (in my opinion) visual improvement.
