Default My trailer broke!

What the hell do you think happened here?
I just noticed it but it must have been this way the last time I used it.
Too cold to take it apart right now, but how is this fixed?

Wheel bearing failure. Most common cause is lack of proper lubrication.

You will need a new hub at the very least, but it looks like the axle is toast as well

Default Important step

It’s apparent you don’t do a walkthrough huh? Hook and go…not a good habit to have. Good luck.

Looks like it got real hot and boiled out what grease there was in it. Whole new assembly to fix this, hub, bearings and probably spindle. The thing that always concerned me about these spindles with the grease nipple is, may people don't know that wheel bearing grease does not play nice with chassis or mp grease. Do not mix them or bad $hit can happen.

I noticed it on the very walkaround you speak of before using it then couldn't "hook and go".
So I don't believe it's all part of a bad habit I have.
Doing a walk around doesn't mean you're never going to find something broken - in fact that's why you do it.
Things are still going to break I don't feel like done anything wrong here.
It must have broke during my last use and I didn't feel anything putting it away
If you're saying I should have done a walk around after using it well yeah I didn't do that - but no I wouldn't think to do that.

He did do a walkaround, that is how he found the issue.

I didn't feel, smell or hear anything my last time out or I would have stopped.
But you can continue to wonder about those things if you want. Then, if you feel I'm lying, or so physically or mentally handicapped but I didn't sense it or worse that I did and continued on - assign the blame to me.
I guess those kind of things are fun to some

But I was just asking here what's broke as I don't know much about trailers, was wondering if it's the axle or the hub - just trying to get that information.

As for signing blame I know none of you did it, my neighbor didn't do it, nobody at work did, I don't even think god did it.
I think it wore out - probably, admittedly from my neglect of maintaining it.
That is my fault. I don't ever remember greasing those bearings other than the time I assembled the trailer a few years ago. I even have a couple of those Bearing Buddies that I never put on. So yes this is all my fault.
I'll take it apart and fix it I was just hoping to get a line on how that happens.
But thanks for pointing out that part of it as I was curious of that too.

Hey the wife didn't notice anything either, I think I'll blame her
