As long as you have the weight distributed correctly, you can tow a LOT with a big bike.

I did over 6,000 miles with this rig last summer, over a month's time.

And yes, the original bearings are packed in what looks like Vaseline. I repacked them in high-temp bearing grease when I was putting the trailer kit together, and repacked them at the halfway part of the trip. No issues.

I just bought a Northern Tools trailer 40in x 48 inch on sale. Got the one with the 12in tires. Put it togeather 2 afternoons after work. This one comes with grease fittings on the wheel hubs. I received the Certificate of Origin in the mail in 2 days. Went for a ride last night and you can not tell it is back there. All set for Daytona Bike Week and camping at the Cabbage Patch. Now I can take all my camping stuff. $269 delivered to my door.

Girlfriend says she would rather camp than stay in a hotel so I am looking for a trailer, kind of leaning toward one of the Escape trailers from these people. Look like good quality and not TOO pricey. http://americasbesttrailers.com/

Pulled my trailer last year and loved it. Put a few thousand on it. Plan to put a few on it again this year. Trip to Maine is in the plans.

Two wheel trailers are great, with the single wheel trailer you need to support/balance the weight of the trailer as well as your bike.
just saying

I have the tag-a-long trailer and it does great. You will be surprized how much it will hold. I think they still sell it.

And yes, repack the bearings.

Has anyone seen premature clutch wear or transmission issues with long time pulling?

When I had the 96ci bumped to a 103ci the clutch springs were changed to compensate for the extra torque. That would be an easy fix and I think would take care of any problems.
