Sensor failing without showing codes?

The crank sensor isn't supplied voltage from the system relay. The crank sensor is a 2 wire sensor that generates a small amount of ac voltage when the tone ring on the crank rotates right beneath it. The relay feeds your ecm, the injectors, the IAC, possibly your coil etc. It's possible the crank sensor is your problem. If you can check the resistance when it's in no start mode, and it's open, than that's no good. Test it cold and see what the resistance is. You can also hook up a dvom, put it on ac volts, and crank your engine. It will probably only generate a couple of tenths of a volt ac. If you can test it cold, record your readings, and test it when it won't start, at least you'll be able to eliminate it or condemn it as the problem.
