So as of now we will be waiting to see if this software flash works when you get the ignition switch removed. Good Luck and hope all works out.
I'm just waiting on some parts to arrive before I tackle the bar swap. I guess in the meantime I could just simply reach underneath the fairing and behind that little plastic nacelle trim piece and unplug the ignition.

So I was at the dealer today. 16 Road Glide, thundermax ECM. Everything went well and no issues. Brought my stock ECM with me to plug into the bike and told them not to start the bike with the stock ecm plugged in. The dealer plugged in the ECM and flashed the bike. The dealer handed me my stock ECM back before starting the bike. Flashed, Also unplugged the ignition switch after flashing. Success and rode home. 30 min labor.

ok yeah that's what my research informed me as well. thanks for your input!

after you switched from the stock ECM back to the Tmax, the tuning was saved and you didn't have to get it retuned correct?

correct. i would save the map to your laptop as an insurance policy just in case something glitches you can just load your tune back in.

I flashed my bike to the CVO ignition (stock ECM) when I bought it as I have Thrashin risers and bars. The next week I installed my Thundermax and the CVO ignition still works with the stock ECM removed. As stated above, this flash does not go on the ECM, it’s on the BCM.

That's a great confirmation! I also had my 22 RGS "CVO Flashed" prior to taking delivery in anticipation of Krauss setup, and then was trying to figure out if going to a Tmaxx after would screw it up. Good to know that if the BCM has already been flashed you can go to the Tmaxx with no worries.

Bringing this back to confirm my experience. Went to dealer with ThunderMax ECM in bike. They stated that they will try with their Digital Tech but not promising anything. They said it's a hit or miss based on the past bikes with ThunderMax.

Well 15 minutes later the CVO ignition flash was successful and working as it's supposed to.
